County Attorney

The Beaverhead County Attorney’s Office represents the entity of Beaverhead County, and all its departments. It prosecutes all felonies occurring in Beaverhead County. It prosecutes for the Sheriff’s Office, the Dillon City Police, the FWP Wardens, the Montana Highway Patrol, the Brand Inspector, the DOT, and others. It conducts mental health commitments. It represents the Department of Family Services in Dependent and Neglect Cases, etc. The Beaverhead County Attorney’s Office also prosecutes bad checks written within the county. If you are the victim of a bad check, please fill out this form and return it to the County Attorney’s Office with the returned check.

Legal Advice

The Beaverhead County Attorney is by law prevented from giving private citizens legal advice on civil matters. If you have questions regarding a civil matter, you should contact a private attorney. Filing criminal charges requires an investigation and action by a law enforcement agency. The Beaverhead County Attorney’s Office does not investigate crime. You should contact local law enforcement officials if you believe a crime has been committed. These agencies are:
