Election Office

The Beaverhead County Elections Office administers the maintenance of the voter registration files, candidate filings, and annually conducts Federal Primary and General Elections, Special District Elections, Municipal Elections and countywide Primary and General Elections. All elections are conducted by the County Clerk & Recorder, acting as Election Administrator, with exception of some special districts and school elections, which are conducted by the individual district.

  • September 20, 2024: UOCAVA Ballots Mailed Out
  • October 7, 2024: Close of Regular Registration

  • October 11, 2024: Absentee ballots Mailed Out
  • November 5, 2024: ELECTION DAY!

Notice Of Election For The 2024 Federal General Election

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a polling place election will be held on November 5, 2024 for the 2024 FEDERAL GENERAL ELECTION.

If you missed the regular registration deadline of October 7, 2024, you may still register for the election by showing up at the county election office until 8pm on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

The polls will be open at 7:00a.m to 8:00 p.m. for the Dillon central locations and 12:00 NOON to 8:00p.m. for the rural locations.

Absentee ballots will be mailed out on Thursday, October 10, 2024 to those voters with an ACTIVE absentee request status.

Current Election Candidate Information
FILING FOR CITY, COUNTY, SCHOOL OR DISTRICT

Candidates filing for local positions, such as City, County and Special District seats, must file through the Beaverhead County Election Office.   Candidates must complete and return the proper paper work by 5pm on the day of the Deadline, to be considered for Nomination. School Trustee candidates must file with the Clerk of the School District.  Each candidate for office must affirm when filing, that they meet or will meet within constitutional and statutory deadlines the qualifications prescribed by the Constitution and laws of the United States and the State of Montana.

Senate and House District seats must be filed through the Secretary of State’s Office

Notice is hereby given, that on Tuesday June 7, 2022 all Central Polling Places will open at 7:00 A.M. and will close at 8:00 P.M.

All Rural Polling Places will open at 12:00 P.M and will close at 8:00 P.M.

Absentee ballots and polling place ballots will be transported to the Beaverhead County Courthouse Employee Breakroom on Election Day for a central count.

A counting board consisting of five counting judges will use a DS450 tabulating machine to count all of the ballots.

Voter Information

To vote in Montana, you must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be 18 years on or before the next election.
  • Be a Montana resident for at least 30 days before the next election. 

Must NOT:

  •  Be a convicted felon serving a sentence in a penal institution.
  •  Have been judged in a court of law to be of unsound mind.

The Beaverhead County Election office is located in the County Courthouse in the Clerk & Recorders Office.
